Last year Sequal Lumber installed two Windsor, geothermally powered kilns. Due to growing demand Sequal is installing two more.
Sequal has been supplying kiln dried lumber into global furniture and industrial markets for a number of years. Up until early last year (2015) Sequal outsourced this drying to third parties.
In March 2015 Sequal installed two of it’s own Windsor kilns, however demand for Sequal’s kiln dried product has continued to lift and the company is now in need for two more.
Sequal’s kilns are heated with geothermal steam, a renewable source of energy. This is quite unique as most kilns are powered using the sawdust waste created during lumber milling. By using geothermal steam it frees up the sawdust to be used in other renewable products such as wood pellets.
Sequal’s total kiln drying capacity after the install will be approximately 6,000M3. This includes utilising some kiln drying volume from third parties.
