At Sequal, we believe we have an obligation to give more to the future. Our view is there\u2019s no better way to do that than to support the tamariki in our community.<\/p>\n
For the past few years, we have teamed up with Kawerau Blue Light to support young people in our community.<\/p>\n
Blue Light are a Police initiative hugely passionate about young people. They aim to reduce the incidence of young people becoming offenders or victims of crime and encourage better relations among the police, young people, parents and the community.<\/p>\n
With branches throughout the country, they collectively set about organising a variety of supervised cultural, social, sporting and educational activities for young people in an alcohol, drug, and violence-free environment.<\/p>\n
This year Sequals\u2019 Mags Burrell and Paige Wereta teamed up with Blue Light for a trip to the snow.<\/p>\n
The weather added a few challenges as a huge dumping of snow closed the road between Kawerau and the ski field, so the Blue Light convoy was forced to wait in Turangi until the roads were opened.<\/p>\n
When the roads final cleared the team headed off again and the kids were over the moon to see the snow \u2013 some of them for the first time. The group stopped by the Chateau where a snow fight quickly ensued followed by the making of a snowman.<\/p>\n
The road closure delays meant there wasn\u2019t enough time for ski lessons, but it didn\u2019t matter as everyone still enjoyed their day in the snow.<\/p>\n
Mags summed up her experience: \u201cIt was a long exhausting day but well worth it, especially for our Tamariki. We enjoyed the day engaging with the youth and highly recommend this experience.\u2019<\/p>\n
