Sequal utilises both LEAN and Total Quality Management systems to ensure its discerning global lumber customers are highly satisfied. This blog highlights a simple part of Sequal’s quality system that it took from a Vietnamese Ikea supplier.
The photo above shows one of the quality boards in the Kiln drying building. These boards, although somewhat rudimentary, are part of a system that ensures only appropriate quality lumber is sent to customers.
These large quality boards have actual examples of reject boards and they are located around the inside of the kiln drying building. They provide a quick and easy to understand identification of which boards need to be rejected.
Whilst it seems simple, the quality boards are highly effective. Sequal actually got this idea from one of it’s valued customers in Vietnam that supplies Ikea and through experience Sequal has proven that having actual rejected product samples on display is much more effective than posting photos or diagrams.
Sequal’s lumber mill is highly automated and many of its quality systems are built into the automation. However lumber by its very nature constantly varies in quality and no automated system can pick everything up, or decide with a customer in mind, what is the right quality decision for them.
Staff at Sequal are selected for their fit to the company culture, which is customer centric and quality focussed.
Please have a look around the website to find out more, or contact Sequal to see if they can meet your supply requirements.
