Peter Horcin, or \u2018Pete\u2019 as we all know him, has been on his Sequal journey for the past eight years. He came on-board in 2012 with a\u00a0PhD\u00a0in hand, speaking limited English and\u00a0he\u00a0is now our Head of Planning & Logistics.<\/p>\n
Prior to Sequal, he was driving a fruit and vege truck around Tauranga after arriving in New Zealand from Slovakia. When Pete started at Sequal, he spent his days re-stacking part-packets in the yard for better container space utilisation until an opportunity came up to fill the role of Logistics Manager. At that stage, the mill\u2019s output had doubled which meant a lot more packets to handle and packet builds to control but he was pretty passionate about logistics so thought he\u2019d put his best foot forward and give it a shot \u2013 if you know logistics, you\u2019ll know that this role wouldn\u2019t have come without its challenges\u2026 but Pete managed to take it all in his stride!<\/p>\n
Since then, Pete has continued to take on plenty more challenges including post-production when the kilns were installed and other responsibilities within the business and now finds himself heading up the Planning & Logistics team.<\/p>\n
We asked Pete to take some time to reflect and give us some feedback on his time at Sequal and changes that he\u2019s seen since joining us in 2012 and this Is what he said\u2026<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the past 8 years, I\u2019ve seen a lot of change at Sequal and this has provided opportunities not only for the business but also my own personal growth. I never would have thought that grabbing that one opportunity to stack boards in the mud and rain would be a significant step for my future. Sometimes it\u2019s the little things that make the biggest difference.<\/p>\n
I am proud to be part of the Sequal family and with a positive view to the future, I\u2019m following my dreams and living my personal values, which are very much aligned with the company values. In doing this, we can all do our bit to give more to the future through wood.\u201d<\/p>\n
