We specialise in\u00a0custom-cutting wood\u00a0to order, which means we supply sizes our customers need to optimize their production.\u00a0Our ability to customise wood for our customers gives us\u00a0access to different markets, both globally and domestically.<\/p>\n
By giving more to our customers and optimising their production, it allows our customers to grow by being more efficient.<\/p>\n
Even with the global pandemic, ongoing economic uncertainty and the various issues facing the industry, our give more philosophy has allowed our customers to grow enough that there is more demand than we were able to meet.<\/p>\n
Meaning we are now in the fortunate position of being able to provide new jobs in our community.<\/p>\n
This all comes back to our belief that giving more to our customers means finding ways to give back to our community.<\/p>\n
Sequal is really excited by the opportunity to create a significant number of new job opportunities in our local Kawerau sawmill.<\/p>\n
On 6 May we held our first open hiring day.<\/p>\n
We had a fantastic turnout with an estimated 80-100 people showing up and more than 40 who took a tour of our sawmill, learnt about our purpose and values, and met with our management team.<\/p>\n
It was wonderful to\u00a0meet\u00a0so many new faces who were enthusiastic and eager to learn more about\u00a0the beliefs and values that shape our work at\u00a0Sequal.<\/p>\n
We have since recruited 25 new staff members who we are confident will do a great job in delivering the third shift.<\/p>\n
We are also grateful to the ongoing hard work and support of our existing staff who helped make the open day such a great success.<\/p>\n
