DISCOVERY PURPOSE:

We want to have a deeper understanding of our customers; why they do what they do, the opportunities they see, and the challenges they face. To do this effectively, we need to ensure we understand what our customers value so we can work together to achieve things we both may have never thought possible.

We believe in giving more than wood to our customers and discovery is our way of deep-diving to uncover some of these things so we can progress forward and grow our business’ together. Discovery ensures we set ourselves up to understand the full breadth of our customers’ business so we can work with them to improve and adapt. There will be some immediate changes that can be made and others that will require more time and attention – but we are committed to growing together so we can progress symbiotically.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ABOUT SCORES GIVEN ABOVE:

  • If Sequal offered treatment, CCA would be beneficial but not LOSP (and a paint line would be good too!!)
  • BCOL has worked quite well but would be beneficial to receive all at once as it is processed separately to other grade
  • “Equalising time” for dried product – 3 weeks minimum
  • Having a schedule for next week’s deliveries would be ideal
  • Keeping comms high if, for example, less volume is needed during the month
  • Different density shook can cause issues (swelling etc.)
  • Seems to be less resin in unpruned log timber
  • Optimiser doesn’t pick up resin
  • Buy from KLC to increase stock levels in order to satisfy customers. Would rather do it all at Hume, but just cannot produce enough (also considering weatherboard currently has only 2-5% margin)
  • Currently finger jointer on-site only finger joints 1/3 of the volume that produce
