Newly appointed young leaders looking to polish leadership skills with a challenge…

We’re passionate about giving more to the future and believe that we as a business, have a role to play in growing and supporting the young people in our region.

In doing so, we are privileged to partner with the Bay of Plenty branch of the Decision Reach Out (Toro Mai) Trust who have done an incredible job for many years with an initiative set up to help enable youth to achieve their potential.

The trust was founded in 1985 and are hugely passionate about creating opportunities for youth in our communities. Twice a year, they send a group of deserving students to the Hillary Outdoors Programme in the Tongariro National Park. The experience helps students acquire new skills, meet others in a similar position to themselves and is a great opportunity for our young people to challenge themselves as individuals, and as student leaders of their schools.

Every year, with the help of the Toro Mai Trust, our friends at Tarawera High School send their student senior leadership team for the following year to help them out of their comfort zone, bring them closer together as a leadership unit, and support with their own personal development. All four newly-appointed leaders should be incredibly proud of their selection as Head and Deputy Prefects for 2020, great achievements for sure. We wish them all the best on their leadership journey next year!

Decision Reach Out (Toro Mai) Trust do a phenomenal job in bringing these opportunities to our promising young leaders to help enhance their futures. We’re super inspired by the work that they do and feel privileged to be a part of it.

We’re already looking forward to catching up in the new year to hear about the students’ experience, any skills and life lessons learned, the friendships they made and all the fun they had – without their phones for a week!
